You should always be seeking some sort of feedback in the things that you do. Whether it’s work, life, relationships, etc feedback is key. Feedback is asking for honest opinions from those around you about what you’re doing. It’s important to have honest conversations because without it your growth could be hindered. Don’t always seek out sympathetic opinions, but rather those that will give you a non biased assessment of what has been presented to them. This will allow you to work on the real problem areas and strengthen you as a whole. If you find yourself getting offended easily at feedback, pay attention and work through it. Proper feedback isn’t personal but rather informational and objective. It’s not feedback on who you are, but rather what you do. -Craig Groeschel
If you haven’t read Peaks and Valleys by Spencer Johnson, MD you really ought to. Life is all about the journey, right? Of course it is and any journey is full of ups and downs along the ways and life is no different. You’ll have high points and low points in life, but you know what? The lows don’t have to feel so low. If you use your time at the top to create a plan for the bottom, the lows will start to feel more like an inconvenience rather than an emotionally draining catastrophe. Often, we are too busy enjoying the top that when we tumble into the valley it’s a great surprise to us and we don’t know what to do. We may feel like we have lost it all, but with proper planning, a good strategy, and patience, we can wade through any valley and emerge on another peak. Another thing to mention is there are some great learning experiences in the valleys. Don’t try to avoid them, but rather be prepared for them and get the most out of your time there. As your preparation skills get better and you improve your strategies, the time spent in the valleys can decrease and your climb to each peak can accelerate. After some time the valleys get smaller and the peaks taller. Enjoy the up ➡️ Celebrate the top ➡️ Plan for the valley ➡️ weather the valley/learn ➡️ Enjoy the climb to the next peak!
While I was thinking about some things lately this popped into my head. I’ve been re-arranging priorities and had a few days where I almost went on a tangent and had to refocus myself. Discipline is easy to talk about but difficult to practice. If there was a line I think I should say to myself as my feet hit the floor in the morning I think this would sum it up fairly well. #leadership #practicewhatyoupreach #newday
Be careful out there my WNY friends.
Be generous, but take care of you and your family first. You cannot adequately help those in need if you yourself are not in a position to do so. Build your house, then use what you have built to aid others in building theirs.
You have to be in it for the long haul. It may take some time, but when you find that one thing that really interests you pursue that. Build whatever it is and put it the time and effort. Get educated, learn every angle, count all the costs, do the homework, and then get to building. At the end you will look back at the creation you have built and the people you have helped. But most of all the people you have helped.
